Every day brings new challenges, but some stories inspire and give hope. Today we will tell the story of Andrii Nikolayovich, a single father of two children, who found the strength to start all over again.

Before the war, Andrii lived with his children near the city of Pology, Zaporizhzhia region. He worked in the city council, had his own house, and devoted all his free time to the kids.

My hobbies are my children. I made them swings, trampolines, and various stuff for games in the yard. We had fun together, “Andrii recalls with warmth in his voice.

When the war began, the father tried to protect the children from fear: “When we heard first explosions, I told them that these were thunder and lightning.”

In March 2022, after a short stay in the occupied territory, Andrii decided to evacuate. Now the family lives in Zaporizhzhia. The eldest son is already a second grader, and the youngest attends kindergarten. Despite the new challenges – constant anxieties and moving from one place to another, the family gradually adapts to the new life.

Andrii learned about the help from the charity foundation “Arms of Mercy” through an ad published by the city council. “Everything was organized. Some are engaged in registration, others on issue. I got called up for a while but didn’t have to wait long. “

The help included a family hygiene kit and food kits — has become an important support for Andriy’s family in this difficult time.

When asked about dreams, the man responds simply and sincerely: “I dream of a peaceful sky and a free future for our country.”

Andrii’s story is an example of parental love and resilience in the face of trials. It reminds us that the most valuable thing in our lives is our loved ones, and we can overcome any difficulties for their good.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who joins in helping people in difficult life circumstances. Special thanks to our partners – World Vision International, USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) and ACTED.

Your every contribution is a step towards the day when all Ukrainians will be able to return to a peaceful life.
