Within the project “PROVIDING MULTI-SECTORAL HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE TO CONFLICT-AFFECTED POPULATIONS IN UKRAINE. PHASE 3”, implemented by the Arms of Mercy Charitable Foundation in partnership with World Vision International and with the support of the U.S. Government, thousands of Ukrainian families receive not only material aid, but something even more valuable — care, support, and hope.

Among them are the stories of Natalia and Ivan — different in circumstance, yet equally strong in resilience and love.
Natalia’s Story: The Strength of a Mother Who Never Gives Up
Natalia lives in the city of Dnipro. She raises her three children on her own. Every day, she faces the ongoing challenge of providing her family with everything they need. Her youngest child is only two and a half years old and has serious health complications.
During registration for cash assistance, the child experienced an epileptic seizure — a painful reminder of how fragile stability can be for families living in constant stress and uncertainty.
For Natalia, the assistance she received became more than financial support — it was a sign of care, compassion, and the reassurance that she is not alone. It gave her the strength to continue fighting for her children’s well-being.
The funds provided became a lifeline — helping to cover medical expenses for the youngest child and to meet basic needs of the older children such as food, clothing, and educational materials.
“I am sincerely grateful to everyone who extends a helping hand in such difficult times. Thank you to the Arms of Mercy Foundation team and the donors for your care, attention, and kindness. Your support became a pillar for me and my children when we needed it most. I will remember it for the rest of my life,” — says Natalia.
Her story reflects the experience of thousands of mothers across Ukraine who, despite hardship, remain a source of strength for their children and a symbol of resilience.
Ivan’s Story: When Care Becomes a Calling
Ivan is a displaced person from the city of Kostyantynivka in Donetsk region. He now lives in Dnipro with his wife and a little girl whom they raise as their own daughter.
Two and a half years ago, during shelling, their family endured a terrible tragedy — Ivan’s sister-in-law, who was seven months pregnant at the time, was critically injured. Despite doctors’ efforts, her life could not be saved — but the baby survived.
Ivan and his wife welcomed the newborn into their family, surrounding her with love and care she was deprived of at birth. Today, she is an inseparable part of their home, nurtured with tenderness and responsibility.
The loss of their home and forced displacement brought many challenges — housing costs, daily needs, and caring for a small child. The assistance the family received became a vital support during this difficult time.
“This is more than help — it is the feeling that we are not alone. In moments like these, hope for a better future returns,” — says Ivan.
His story is a testament to courage, compassion, and the healing power of love, which can transform grief into care.
