Project: Providing intersectoral humanitarian assistance to the conflict-affected population in Ukraine
For Olha Sergiivna, a 44-year-old single mother, her hometown, Sloviansk, Donetsk oblast, has become an arena of daily struggle for survival.
Until February 24, 2022, the life of Mrs Olga seemed well-established: she worked as an accountant at a local confectionery factory and lovingly raised 14-year-old daughter Dasha and 10-year-old son Denis. However, the war crossed out all plans.

“When the war began, our factory ceased working, and I immediately found myself without means of subsistence. And in my hands the fate of my two children, because I am a single mother, “says Olha Serhiivna.
The situation was complicated because her 78-year-old mother Olha who lives with them firmly refused to leave home. Therefore, the family decided to stay in Sloviansk, despite the danger.
“February – March — this period was just a nightmare. I kept my children alert all the time. At 2 am we came out, went down to the basement under our house, “the woman recalls the first months of a full-scale war.
Now the life of the Tkachenko family has changed. Olha became a member of the New Life Church in Sloviansk, where she serves as a volunteer.
The family relies financially on Olha’s mother’s pension and state assistance for the children. However, the real support was humanitarian aid from various organizations, especially from the Arms of Mercy Foundation.
Olha learned about our foundation in the church. We provided the family with the necessary hygiene products and food.
“Everything is very necessary. Nothing extra, everything is designed for the number of people to whom help is provided, “Olha shares her impressions.
When asked about dreams, the woman answers simply and sincerely: “Like everyone else at this stage. I wish for the war to end and for the Lord to save our life, and save our city. And that we all may be blessed and saved.”
We are deeply grateful to everyone who joins us to help people in difficult life circumstances. Special thanks to our partners – World Vision International, USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) and ACTED.
Your every contribution is a step towards the day when all Ukrainians will be able to return to a peaceful life.
