A Humanitarian Project Providing Free Bread to Vulnerable Groups Launched in Kherson

The charity foundation “Arms of Mercy”, with the financial support of “Stand With Ukraine”, has launched a new humanitarian project aimed at supporting residents of Kherson affected by the war and daily shelling.
One of our partner bakeries in Kherson continues to operate even under extremely challenging conditions. With the support of caring people, it is capable of baking up to 20,000 units of bread and bakery products per month.
Funding from “Stand With Ukraine” will cover the purchase of flour, yeast, and other essential ingredients, allowing the distribution of more than 6,000 loaves of bread free of charge across 12 locations in the city — Dnipro district (7 locations), Tavriiskyi (2), City Center (1), Ostriv (1), Shumenskyi (1), and Zhytloselyshche (1).
As of today, all procurement procedures have been completed, and over 4,000 kilograms of flour have already been delivered to the bakery — enabling the start of baking and bread distribution in the coming days.

This is an important step toward ensuring the stability of the project, as well-established local cooperation allows the bakery to operate without delays or risks associated with transporting goods from other regions.
Over the course of three weeks of distribution, the foundation will provide approximately 6,000 people with fresh bread. This initiative will help reduce food insecurity and strengthen local food resilience without the need for risky logistical deliveries from outside regions.
“We strive to ensure that even in the most difficult circumstances, people in Kherson feel cared for and can receive the essentials. Bread is not just food — it is a symbol of life and community,” — said the director of the “Arms of Mercy” foundation.
